Knowledge Base

The Knowledge Base is your organization's shared document store. Upload files or import web pages here, assign them to projects, and the agents in those projects can draw on that content when answering questions.

What the Knowledge Base is for

Agents are powerful reasoners, but they can only work with information they have access to. The Knowledge Base bridges the gap between your organization's documents and your agents — policy manuals, product documentation, internal guides, reference material — making them available as a structured context source.

Documents in the Knowledge Base are organization-level resources. They don't belong to a single project; you control which projects can access each file.

How files reach agents

Uploading a file to the Knowledge Base doesn't automatically make it available to all agents. The flow is:

  1. Upload a file to the Knowledge Base
  2. Assign it to one or more projects using the file's project assignment controls
  3. Agents in those projects can now reference the file's content during runs

This gives you precise control — a file about internal HR policies can be assigned only to the HR assistant project, while general product documentation can be assigned to all customer-facing projects.

Supported content types

You can add content in two ways:

File upload — drag files into the upload area or click to browse. Common document formats are accepted: PDFs, Word documents, plain text files, and more.

URL import — import a web page by URL. Anter fetches the page content and indexes it for use by agents. Useful for public documentation, product pages, or any web-accessible reference material.

The file list

Once files are uploaded, they appear in a table showing:

ColumnWhat it shows
File nameThe document name with a format icon
SizeFile size
UploadedThe date the file was added
ProjectsWhich projects this file is assigned to
TagsAny tags you've added to help organize files

A statistics bar above the table shows the total number of files and combined storage used across all documents.
